Cremation: The Advantages and Disadvantages

All of us have to leave this world at some time, but not many want to discuss things related to death. However, at George Darte Funeral Home, we have seen this trend change, and many people now pre-plan their funeral service. Similarly, cremation is a growing trend, and if you feel that this is an option for you, here is some information regarding its advantages and disadvantages:

Advantages Of Cremation

  • The amount you pay for cremation is far less than burials, which makes it an ideal option if you do not want to spend large amounts of money on a standard burial service

  • The decedent’s ashes will be stored in an urn/box, and you can take them home or place them in a columbarium. The other option is to scatter them in the ocean or some different location. It’s a fuss-free and straightforward process compared to purchasing a burial plot and paying for its maintenance over the years.

  • A cremation needs fewer resources and is an environment-friendly solution compared to a burial

Disadvantages Of Cremation

  • Certain religious circles look upon the cremation process as an improper way of disposing of the decedent’s body after death.

  • Cremating a body releases CO2 into the environment

Since there are certain distinct advantages and disadvantages to cremation, you should discuss these options with your family or close friends and get their input. If you want to learn more about pre-planning a cremation or funeral service or need to book one, contact George Darte Funeral Home. You can call 905-937-4444 or use our contact form.
