Can I Have a Cremation and a Visitation?

Visitation is an opportunity to say last farewells and find peace. The bereaved family and loved ones do not want to miss their final chance to view the departed. Many individuals feel that cremation precludes funeral rituals and visitations, making them hesitant to pick the option. Our goal at George Darte Funeral Home is to eliminate this myth. Visitation is possible, and these are some details to help you understand what it involves:

1. Embalming is a Viable Option

Before the cremation process begins, the body can be embalmed to halt degradation for a few days. If you need to postpone the visitation service so that all family members can pay their respects to the departed, inform the funeral director. These professionals will take care of the rest.

2. Private Visitation

A private visitation with only a few close family members is easy to arrange. No embalming is necessary because the visitation can occur within just a few hours after death. Funeral homes can make these arrangements quickly, eliminating the need to forgo a brief visitation.

3. It is Not Always Necessary to See The Body

There is no requirement that a body is present during the visitation. Cremation turns the body into ashes, which you can preserve in an urn as long as you like. You can schedule a memorial ceremony any time you want so everyone can pay their final respects to the departed.

There are many other options to choose from. Simply have a discussion with the funeral director to determine what works best for your needs. For more details, please call George Darte Funeral Home at 905-937-4444 or use our contact form. One of our team members will call you shortly to answer your queries and help you with the services you need.
