What Cremation Caskets are Available for Purchase?
An intact, totally flammable container must be rigidly put inside the cremation room whenever a body is cremated. This container can be anything from a conventional casket to a box made of cardboard; the only stipulation is that it must not contain any components made of metal.
Types of Cremation Caskets
It is possible to buy a casket for the funeral ceremony that can also be used as the container for the cremation if the cremation is going to take place after the conventional service. Metal cannot be used in a cremation casket; instead, it must be entirely made of wood, wood covered in cloth, or another substance (bamboo, wicker, etc.). The cremation casket varieties available for purchase are listed below by George Darte Funeral Home:
1. Green Cremation Caskets
Most "green" caskets are entirely flammable and suitable for cremation. Natural materials like bamboo, wicker, cotton, wool, or teak are frequently used to create green caskets. Additionally, several recycled cardboard containers have been decorated to resemble traditional caskets; they can be used instead of purchasing or renting a casket because they are less expensive.
2. Jewish Cremation Caskets
Jewish funeral caskets are fully combustible because they are composed entirely of wood with no metal components, making them a good alternative for a cremation casket.
3. Crematory-Provided Cremation Containers
The crematory will provide an alternative cremation container if you don't want to buy a casket. This will presumably be a box made of cardboard.
Costs Of Cremation Caskets
A cremation casket's price is determined mainly by the specific style of casket required for the memorial service being held. A formal funeral followed by cremation would need either the purchase of an all-wood casket for both the service and the cremation or the rental of a casket for the service. Additionally, it would need another container for the cremation, the latter of which would be far more cost-effective.
Other Options for Cremation Caskets
An "alternative container," sometimes known as a cardboard box, can be used for cremation if you don't want to spend much money on a casket for the funeral service.
