Obituary of Maria Anne McDowell

McDOWELL, Maria Anne (nee Belanger) †" Passed away peacefully after a valiant battle with cancer, on February 19, 2013. She will be sorely missed by her husband of 40 years, Peter, daughter Michelle (Troy) and grand-daughter Madison, the greatest joy of her life. She will also be missed by her brother Mark (Julie) and their two hockey players Charlie and Sam, as well as brother-in-law John (Barb) and their children, Cheryl, Todd (Delores), Dale (Greg), and Dawn (Barclay). She was predeceased by parents Eugene and Maria Belanger and grand-mother Yvonne Belanger, her guiding light. Maria†™s favourite past-time of late was babysitting Madison as they watched Michelle put Fabel through his paces. Our sincerest gratitude is extended to Maria†™s †œadopted sisters†� during the last several weeks for their tremendous support; Maria loved you all dearly. We would also like to recognize and thank the staff at N.H.S. General Site, especially Dr. Sawula, Barb Kennedy and Cristina Gomes. Arrangements are entrusted to the GEORGE DARTE FUNERAL CHAPEL, 585 Carlton St. A private service will occur. A reception to celebrate Maria†™s life will be held at the St. Catharines Golf and Country Club Sunday, February 24, 2013 from 1 to 4 pm. For those who wish, memorial donations may be made to Hospice Niagara.
