Obituary of Doug Birchnall

BIRCHNALL, Douglas J. March 29, 1950 †" April 27, 2013 Most warm and loving husband of 40 years to Barbara Birchnall (Dawidek), very proud father of Donna Birchnall-Nicol (James Nicol) and Ed Birchnall (Christine Marcotte) and best papa and grandpa in the world to Amanda Polly-Nicol, Jacob, Alex and Emilie Birchnall. Doug, 63, passed away suddenly at the St. Catharines Hospital after battling a short undetermined infection. Doug will be greatly missed by his mother June Birchnall (late Andrew Birchnall), his sister Carol Goyetche (John), his father-in-law Cass Dawidek (late Joy Dawidek), his uncle Peter Damore (late Betty Damore), his sisters-in-law Doreen Dick (Russell) and Mary Dawidek (Matt), and many nieces, nephews and cousins. Recently retired from the City of St. Catharines after 25 years of service and having also worked at Niagara Airbus for nearly 20 years, he will also be missed by many colleagues. Friends and family will be received at the GEORGE DARTE FUNERAL CHAPEL, 585 Carlton Street, St. Catharines on Tuesday, April 30th from 7-9 p.m. and Wednesday, May 1st from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. A Celebration of Doug's life will be held at the funeral home on Thursday, May 2nd at 11 a.m. with interment to follow at Pleasantview Memorial Gardens.
