SHORTHOUSE, Rita Roseleen (nee Tourbin)
Passed away peacefully in her sleep on Wednesday, May 5, 2010 at the St. Catharines General Hospital in her 80th year. Beloved wife for 65 loving years to Wallace James. Cherished mother of Lynn (Ron) Taylor, Michael (Sheila Servos) and Theresa (Dave) Yager. Special grandmother of 14 grandchildren and 22 great grandchildren. Dear sister of Kay (Ed) Plante and Lavina (Bill) Chamberlain. Rita is also survived by her nieces and nephews. Predeceased by brothers Art and Clarence Tourbin, her nephew Dennis Tourbin and by her parents Yves and Rose Tourbin. Rita will be greatly missed by her family, friends and her faithful companion Kira. Rita will be forever remembered by her delicious spaghetti and meatballs, cabbage rolls, chocolate chip cookies and especially for her kind heart and for being a great listener. A special thank you to the doctors and nursing staff at the St. Catharines General Hospital for their care. Rita's family will receive family and friends at the GEORGE DARTE FUNERAL CHAPEL, 585 Carlton St., on Friday, May 7, 2010 from 2-4 p.m. and 7-9 p.m. Vigil prayers will be held at 3:30 p.m. Funeral Liturgy will be celebrated in St. Denis Church, corner of Lake St. and Carlton St., on Saturday afternoon at 1 p.m. Cremation to follow service, with an inurnment at a later date at Victoria Lawn Cemetery. Expressions of sympathy may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society or to the Lincoln County Humane Society.
