Obituary of Anna Gawel
Gawel, Anna (Nee Gnot): On Sunday July 11, 2010, with family by her side at the Hotel Dieu Shaver Hospital in her 73rd year, Anna went home to be with her Lord and Saviour. Anna fought a courageous battle with cancer. Beloved wife of Jozef Gawel. Loving mother of Joseph (Debbie) Kalinowski, and Sabina (Tadeusz) Nowak. Proud Babcia of Jason (Kristina), Jordan, Monika, and Mateusz. Cherished great grandmother of Kaitlyn. Dear sister od Stasia, Mary and John. Predeceased by her parents Leon and Rozalia Gnot. Anna will be lovingly remembered by nieces, nephews, family and friends. Anna was a member of Our Lady of Perpetual Help Church and was employed at Hotel Dieu Hospital for 22 years in Housekeeping. The family would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to the palliative care staff at the St. Catharines General Hospital and the Hotel Dieu Shaver Hospital for their wonderful care of Anna. Anna is resting at the George Darte Funeral Chapel, 585 Carlton St. St. Catharines. Visiting hours are Wednesday July 14, 2010 from 2 - 4 and 7 - 9 p.m. The Funeral Liturgy will be celebrated at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Church 5 Oblate St. on Thursday July 15, 2010 at 10 a.m. with interment to follow at Victoria Lawn Cemetery. Vigil prayer will be said in the funeral home Wednesday evening at 7 p.m. Memorial remembrance made to the Canadian Cancer Society would be appreciated by the family.
