Obituary of Teresa Bruni
BRUNI TERESA Following a brief illness, Teresa died at her home on Friday November 12, 2010 at the age of 90. She is mother to daughter Linda (Pat) McGarrity and two sons Don and Ed (Sondra). She will always be fondly remembered and sadly missed by her grandchildren Megan, Kirsten, Derek, Edlyn, Angela, David and her four great grandchildren Amalia and Brynn (Tinmouth), Bailey and Kennedy (Antoine) who affectionately referred to her as their kitchen grama.
Teresa was born in Port Arthur Ontario on August 26, 1920, the second of ten children born to the late Rosina (Mirabelli) and Pasquale Bruni.
She has been the consummate mother; dedicating her whole life to her husband, children and extended family for which we are all greatly appreciative. She was hard working and had a stoic nature. She was a superb cook and avid book reader. Always kind and generous to all, she was accepting, non-judgmental and never put herself before others. An exemplary role model; truly the wind beneath our wings. She will be greatly missed.
She was predeceased by her husband Michael (1991), sister Assunta Sarlo (1991) and brothers James (2010) and Frank (2010). She is survived by sisters Mary (Sisco), Anne (Ward), Julia (Milani), Emma (Toivonen) brothers William and Peter and numerous nieces, nephews and other relatives.
The family appreciates with thanks the devoted care and kindness provided by Drs. Ken Taylor and Eric Blackman, nurse (Dorsay) and home care worker (Patti). Additional thanks is extended to Connie from St. Alfred†™s Church.
A memorial mass will be held at St. Alfred†™s Roman Catholic Church, 272 Vine St., St. Catharines on Friday Nov. 19th at 11:00 am. In accordance with her wishes cremation has taken place and a private inurnment will take place at a later date. No visitation is planned. In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to the Saint Vincent de Paul Society food bank at St. Alfred†™s Church or to Doctors without Borders Canada.
