Obituary of Rene Jules Deprez Sr.

DEPREZ Sr., Rene Jules Peacefully at home, on Wednesday, October 7th, in his 82nd year, Rene passed away. Beloved husband of Margaret (Peggy) for 56 years. Loving father of Oscar (Val), Maria (Jim) McCormick, Patricia (Paul) Stewart, Bernadette Bannan (Earl Jones), Rene Jr., Paul (Vicky) , Siobhan (Rick) Meier. Loving grandfather to Michael (Jen), Kelly, Amii (Adrian), Julie (Andy), Andrea (Dan), Amanda, Scott, Colin, Cassidy, Nadine, Meghan, Kiara, Benjamin and Jenna, and great-grandchildren Ethan, Lauren, Dawson and Alex. Rene is also survived by his sister Claire Daix from Belgium, sister in law Nancy Murphy from Ireland, niece Pascal Navez from Belgium and many other nieces and nephews from overseas. Predeceased by infant daughter Colleen, mother and father Oscar and Julia, brother Albert and sisters Berthe, Andre and Gilbert. Rene was one of the founding members of the Irish Club of St. Catharines and also a memorable doorman of St. Catharines Feis and many others. He worked at Ferranti-Packard for 25 years and was also a member and usher at St. Alfreds Parish for many years. Rene's family will receive visitors at the GEORGE DARTE FUNERAL CHAPEL, 585 Carlton Street, St. Catharines on Thursday, October 8th from 7-9pm and Friday, October 9th from 2-4pm and 7-9pm. The Funeral Mass will be celebrated at St. Alfred's Church, 272 Vine Street on Saturday, October 10th at 9:30am. The Rite of Committal to follow at Victoria Lawn Cemetery. Vigil prayers will be celebrated in the funeral home on Friday at 7pm. If desired, memorial donations to the Kidney Foundation, Alzheimers Society or the Ontario Federation for Cerebral Palsy would be appreciated by the family.
