Obituary of Martin Joseph Corcoran

CORCORAN MARTIN April 4, 1928 - December 23, 2009 With heavy hearts the family of Martin Corcoran announce the passing of a husband and best friend of Christena (Henderson / Falconer), father of James (Esther) and grandfather of Jason, Sean and Aaron of London Ontario. Stepfather of Karen Jones (Randy), papa of Christena (Tina) and Zachary Jones of St Catharines. Survived by his brother Hughie and brothers in law Bud (Millie), Duncan (Anne), Harry (Barbara), Bill (Joyce) and Frank (Lois) Falconer. Martin will be lovingly remembered by his many nieces, nephews, family and friends. Predeceased by his brothers Robert, William, Patrick, brothers in law Gordon, John, and sister in law Ann. Martin loved sports. He played hockey and coached both hockey and fastball for many years. He also loved politics. He was a councilman with the city, representing Port Dalhousie Ward for many years, in the 70's. He was an avid gardener and enjoyed sharing his fruits and vegetables with his neighbors. He was very proud of his Irish background. Martin had 21 years of great retirement and spent the last 18 winters in his Florida home where he was president of the shuffleboard. Martin is resting at the GEORGE DARTE FUNERAL HOME, 585 Carlton St where his family will receive friends on Sunday December 27th from 2-4 and 7-9pm. A service to celebrate his life will be held in the chapel on Monday at 11am. Burial in Pleasantview Memorial Gardens, Fonthill. Memorial remembrances to The Niagara Peninsula Children†™s Centre or Hospice Niagara would be appreciated by the family.
