Obituary of Ida Grimaldi

GRIMALDI, Ida (nee Molinaro) 1925-2010 Peacefully with her family by her side on Monday January, 25th, 2010 at the St. Catharines General Hospital in her 85th year, Ida was welcomed into the arms of the Lord. Predeceased by her loving husband Salvatore (2005), cherished mother of Julie (Frank) Aiello, Ann (Tony) Aiello and Gina (Glenn) Crossley. Ida was predeceased by her son Tony (1978). Beloved Nanna to Robert (Tracy) Aiello, Samie (Krista) Aiello, Marco (Carrie) Gale-Aiello and Christopher (Morgan) Elliott. Ida was predeceased by grandchildren John Aiello, Benjamin and Genna Crossley. Great Nanna to Robbie, Trevor, Michael Aiello, David, Julianna Aiello, Tyler, Joshua Gale- Aiello and Mason Christopher Elliott. Ida is survived by her sisters Maria, Amelia and Immacolata and predeceased by her brothers Nunziato (Maria) Amendola, Adolfo(Anna) and Guisseppe Molinaro and by sisters Gemma and Teresa. Ida will be sadly missed by her sister-in- law Maria Molinaro and many nieces, nephews family and friends. A special thank you to Ida's personal support workers, the nursing staff on the third floor of SCGH and to Dr. Hartman. Ida was a dedicated parishioner at St. Alfreds's Church, she had a strong passion for her garden; everything she touched flourished, she also made sure everyone was able to share the beautiful fruits of her labour of love. Family will receive friends at the GEORGE DARTE FUNERAL CHAPEL, 585 Carlton St,on Wednesday, January 27, from 7-9 p.m and Thursday, January 28, from 2-4p.m and 7-9p.m. The funeral Mass will be celebrated at St. Alfred's Church, 272 Vine St., on Friday, January 29, 2010 at 11:00 a.m. The Rite of Committal to follow at Victoria Lawn Cemetery. Vigil prayers will be celebrated in the funeral home on Thursday evening at 7:00 p.m. Donations to a charity of choice would be appreciated by the family.
