Obituary of Hazel Joan Smiley

Smiley, Hazel Joan(nee: McCrea) Surrounded by her loving family on Thursday February 25, 2010 at the Lookout Ridge Retirement Home, in her 88th year. Beloved wife of the late Bill Smiley (1998). Loving mother of Janice (Ken) Slingerland, Joan (Bob) Cornelius, and David Smiley. Cherished grandma of Jena, Michael, Joel and Lauren. Hazel is survived by her sisters Mary (Ben) Pickard of Port Perry, Viola Miller of Warren Ohio, her brothers Norman (Jean) McCrea of Carp, and Bill (Fay) McCrea of Caledon East, and she will be sadly missed by many nieces and nephews. Predeceased by her parents Edmund and Hattie, her sisters Margaret and Ravina, and brother Gerald. Hazel was a longtime member of St. John's Anglican Church in Port Dalhousie, and was kept very busy by her work with meals on wheels, literacy programs and had a great love of nature. George Darte Funeral Chapel 585 Carlton St. St. Catharines, have been entrusted with the arrangements for Mrs. Smiley. Visitation hours are Tuesday March 2, 2010 from 2 - 4, and 7 - 9 p.m. The funeral service will be held on Wednesday March 3, 2010 at St. John's Anglican Church at 11 a.m. with interment to follow at St. John's Cemetery. Memorial Remembrances made to St. John's Church or the Alzheimers Society, would be appreciated by the family.
