Obituary of Michael Fortushniok

FORTUSHNIOK, Michael Peacefully and after a lengthy battle with cancer on Friday, December 19th, 2008 at the Hotel Dieu-Shaver at the age of 75. Beloved husband of the late Lilian Mary Jones (1997). Loving father of Trish and Joel Friesen, Mary and Steve Mikraszewicz and Michael and Elizabeth Fortushniok-all of St. Catharines. Cherished grandfather of James, Curtis, Russell, Stephanie, Katie, Emily, Evan and Ben. Dear brother of Sophie (late Tony) Tucker, Olga (late Pete) Gregor, Nellie and Steve Laginski, Angie (late Walter) Fortushniok, Alexander and Jan Fortushniok, Tony and Betty Fortushniok and Doreen (late Joe) Fortushniok. Special companion to Marie Jones and special uncle to many nieces and nephews. Predeceased by his parents John and Mary Fortushniok and brother and sister in law Jack and Wanda Farr, William Fortushniok and Tina Fortushniok. Michael was longtime employee of General Motors and a member of the C.A.W. Hall. Mr. Fortushniok's family will receive visitors at the GEORGE DARTE FUNERAL CHAPEL, 585 Carlton Street, St. Catharines on Monday, December 22nd from 2-4pm and 7-9pm. A Funeral Liturgy Without Mass will be celebrated in the funeral home chapel on Tuesday, December 23rd at 1 pm. Cremation to follow the service with a private family inurnment at a later date. If desired, memorial donations to the Hotel Dieu-Shaver would be appreciated by the family.
