I met Monsignor 4 years ago when he came to live at Extendicare St.Catharines. I am an employee there. He was a wonderful, loving man. We had many talks over the years and I got to know him quite well. A family member of mine is terminally ill, Monsignor and I prayed together in his room one afternoon when I needed a shoulder to cry on. He helped me more than I can express. I will miss his smile and his laugh. We will all miss him at Extendicare, both the residents and staff. I was so blessed to have known him and I will never forget him. Love Lea

I will always have fond memories of Father, I lived across the street on King St. in Port Colborne across from St. Patricks church. When I was 13 years old I used to help Fathers mother out with dinner parties that Father gave when the bishop used to come .I used to help her out with the dishes cleaning up and serving the food and setting the dinner table. She was a lovely person and a great teacher for me in the kitchen. During my summer months I used to be Father' housekeeper. I would work from 1100am to 600pm and do cleaning cooking dusting and washing for Father. I think he was a scapegoat for my cooking but he never said a word about it , he always praised it . I was lucky to have my mother across the street as she would sometimes send over some meals for him also.I will always remember Father's dog Punchie he was a good dog.I am sorry for your loss and I will always remember Father he will be in my thoughts and prayers. When I went into nursing Father was one of my references and I will always be grateful to him for his guidance and support during my adolescence years.

My sincere sympathies on the passing of Msgr. John Cartwright. Father Cartwright was a guest in our home many times during the years that my parents lived in Fonthill and St. Catharines. My father, Canon Ralph Price, was an Anglican priest in Niagara Diocese. My parents (mother, Barbara) were very active in ecumenical activities, and Father Cartwright, along with Father Lee and Father McInerney, became very good friends. I remember Father Cartwright's sense of humour and his sincere interest in us as children and teenagers. Very good memories of a warm and caring man.

Father Jack was a wonderful person! He served his parishioners at St. Denis for many years and became not just a pastor but also a special friend to Katie Hirter and to all of us. His humour, gentle manner and wisdom will never be forgotten. Father Jack was all anyone could ask to be: a thoughtful pastor, a wise consultant, and a special friend. We will treasure the petit point picture he made for Katie. John will miss him at Extendicare. God wanted his angel back home!
