Obituary of Mary Eileen Steele

Steele, Eileen: Passed away peacefully in the arms of her granddaughter Leigh-Anne, who she always called her God Send, and surrounded by her family, on January 25, 2009, in her 87th year. Loving mother of Anne, Albert (Lorraine), Patricia (Mike), and Leonard. Survived by 15 grandchildren, 15 great grandchildren, and one great great grandson, sister Bernadette Bond of Glace Bay N.S., brother Ferd Bates of St. Catharines, special neices Terry Wadden of Glace Bay, and Gloria Nearing of Connington ON, and numerous other nieces and nephews. She will be missed by her friend Anna Clement. Predeceased by her son Bobby, her daughter Karen, and grandson Denny, 5 brothers, and 2 sisters. Mom faithfully attended St. Julia†™s Church for 35 years, and was a member of the CWL for 35 years. She was a very giving and friendly lady, and she always stopped to talk to people young and old, especially the people in the building where she lived for 35 years, at 215 Glenridge Ave. She was a good servant to our Lord. Thank You to Dr. Harb and the nurses in 2 West at Hotel Dieu Shaver for taking such good care of her, and also to Dorothy from Pro Wellness, for many years of care. According to Eileen†™s wishes, there will be no visitation at the Funeral Home. She had said that it would be so nice if anyone who wanted to pay respects would come to her Funeral Mass at St. Julia†™s Church, 251 Glenridge Avenue, St. Catharines, on Thursday January 29, 2009 at 10 a.m. Inurnment at Victoria Lawn Cemetery to follow. In lieu of flowers, donations to Community Care would be appreciated.
