I was thinking about George today. The last time I saw him was in February 2009, when he was admitted to St. Catharines General Hospital. We exchanged a few words at that time, and despite his distress, it was he who asked about me, rather than the other way around. George took a number of French classes I taught at Brock University late 90s, early 2000s. The oldest student I had in 34 years of teaching, George was the brightest, the kindest, the most alive of them all. George was an amazing man. I cherish his memory. Rest in peace, George.
From Dennis.

I grew up living around the corner from the Doty family and Geoff was my first best friend. I spent hours at the Doty house and our family usually sat one pew behind the Doty's at St Paul St United church. Mr and Mrs. Doty were always kind and welcoming and I remember the Doty car always smelling like horses. There always seemed to be a saddle or a horse blanket and there was always a bit of straw or hay in the back seat. I remember Mr Doty going on fox hunts and I always wondered what he would do if he actually caught one. I never saw any foxes around their house. I remember the great tree fort's he would build and Geoff and I had many adventures in them. There was always a jug of freshy or coolaid in the fridge. Those were some of the fondest days of my life. Thanks to all the Doty's for befriending a little boy and giving him so many fond memories....bill dobson

Hello to all of the Dotys,
I am so sorry to hear of your Dad's death. He was a wonderful member of our community with the various volunteer activities he did in his younger days. He was also a strong member of our Rotary Club and will be sorely missed am sorry that I cannot be with you tomorrow for his ceremony. I am in meetings in Toronto for the next few days and these were scheduled 7 months ago.
My son Gregory who is also in the Rotary Club with George will be with you for the ceremony at the church.
I shall keep all of you in my prayers.
Good luck with your journey.
Warmest regards,
George
