Obituary of Richard Climie
CLIMIE RICHARD (Dick) Passed away peacefully after a courageous and lengthy battle with leukemia, Thursday, March 5, 2009, surrounded by his loving family, at the Hotel Dieu Shaver Hospital, at 82 years of age. Beloved husband of Olga(Nikki), for 55 years. Loving father of John and Donna. Cherished grand dad of Joan, Jennifer, Nicole, Richard and Kathryn. Dear brother of Leroy, brother in law of Boris (Bert) Nicoloff, Rose and Oscar Lorentz and Mary Wilson. Uncle to Mark, David, Paul, Allan and Tony.
Dick served during WWII for the Royal Canadian Navy on the HMCS Uganda. Dick was a dedicated pharmacist who served the community with generosity as the Owner/Operator of Niagara Drugs in St. Catharines for 25yrs, then 5yrs at Climie†™s Pharmacy. Also he was a past president of the St. Catharines and District Pharmacist†™s Association, member of the Gyro Club, member of the Probus Club. He volunteered at the Niagara Apothecary shop and Meals on Wheels. He enjoyed a good game of golf and was an avid curler at the St. Catharines Golf and Country Club.
The family extends their heartfelt thanks to Dr. P. Fernandez for providing dedicated medical care with compassion through out his illness.
At Dick's request there will be no visitation. Arrangements entrusted to the GEORGE DARTE FUNERAL CHAPEL, 585 Carlton St. A private family burial will take place in Victoria Lawn Cemetery, with a celebration of Dick's life taking place at a later date. Memorial remembrances to the St. Catharines General Hospital Foundation Future Building Fund would be appreciated by the family.
