Obituary of John Sanford Godin

GODIN, John "Sanford" Passed away peacefully and with his family by his side at the St. Catharines General Hospital-NHS on Wednesday, March 25th at the age of 85. Much loved husband for 66 years of Marion (nee Esleiger), devoted and cherished father of Austin (Jessie), Barb (Reg) Chamberlain, Gerrie (Steffen) Hopf, Mary Lou (Herman) Driscoll, Herb (Patsy), Pam (Al) Morrison and father in law of Diane. Beloved grandfather of 16 great grandfather of 23 and great great grandfather of 1. Also survived by his brothers Delphis and Leslie, sister Mary and many nieces, nephews and friends. Predeceased by his children Beverley (1952), Gus (1993) and Emily (1994), his parents John David and Ethel, his brothers Mike and Sandy, and his sister Hilda. Sanford loved horses, travelling and working with equipment. Sanford's family will receive visitors at the GEORGE DARTE FUNERAL CHAPEL, 585 Carlton Street, St. Catharines on Sunday, March 29th from 2-4pm. Funeral Liturgy will be celebrated from St. Denis Catholic Church, 230 Lake Street on Monday, March 30th at 10am. Cremation will follow the service and there will be a private family inurnment at a later date in New Brunswick. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations to the Canadian Cancer Society would be appreciated by the family.
