Thank you to all who offered support during the illness and loss of our Father Herb.
Memories of my Dad are numerous - from the days living on Halifax Harbour I recall lots of raft and rowboat adventures - often over to McNab's Island and even an all day venture around the island including a gruelling portage. Finally by dark Dad announced our approach to home (for the benefit of my worried Mother) by loudly yodeling to the moon while we rowed the last nautical knot.
Appreciation for Mother was a sentiment he often expressed when I was growing up, from noting that the picnic lunch was prepared by her "loving hands" - to suggesting that when asked, "How is your mother?," I might reply, "Why beautiful of course! "
I recall many philosophical discussions lasting late into the night, seeing him kneeling by bedside for prayer, nature walks and much more. When Dad was finally able to retire, it was just in time to care for his dying mother, a great example I will always admire and remember of both my parents. It pained me greatly to see him suffering, and I will miss him very much. I will see you on the other side Dad. This you taught me. "Thanks for that!"

Dear Shirley and Family:
We were shocked to hear of Herb's sudden death. We have so many happy memories of him. As the first born of the Jamieson's 24 grandchildren, we all looked up to our older cousin, He was a gentle soul who was always there to teach and assist the younger cousins to learn new things.
I remember his wonderful hitch hiking trip across Canada with Mac, and how brave and adventurous we thought they were. I still have a photo of them together with their beards and knapsacks, and big smiles, and it still brings a smile to my face.
We will miss him so much at the Family Reunions, and we hope to still see you there.
You are all in our thoughts and prayers, and we offer our sincere condolences.
Love, Joan and Al Gates

I have many fond memories of my time spent at my grandparents†™ house with my siblings. Grandpa helped me learn many things: how to climb a tree, how to whistle, and even a few songs on the piano. Grandpa surprised us a few times with a tree fort, a sandbox and a seesaw in the backyard that he had made for us. Every visit was exciting and enjoyable. I will always remember Grandpa Herb and our time spent together.

I will always remember my Father's poetic qualities, and how he took joy in the simple things of life - my Mother's 'unaffected' smile, the birds in his gardens, maple syrup, defending the underdog, and caring for his own elderly Mother. My young daughter will always remember him teaching speech and table manners, helping him check the gardens, and picking his tomatoes. He's in our hearts forever.
