Obituary of Gerald Albert Spiers

SPIERS, Gerald Albert "Jerry" Peacefully but suddenly after a short illness, and while surrounded by his loving family, at Hospice Niagara on October 31, 2007 at the age of 69. Much loved and cherished husband for 49 years of Louise. Devoted father of Dawn (Mike) Dodge, Constance (Frank) DiPietro and Christopher (Barb). Adored Grandpa of Justin and Chloe Dodge, Chantyl and Dylan DiPietro and Papa to Chelsea and Devon Spiers. Also survived by his brother Lloyd (Faye) Spiers of Peterborough, sister Betty (Jim) Tuck of Brantford, and sister in law Helen of Sarnia. Predeceased by his parents Lloyd (1980) and Luella (1989) and his brother Clarence (2006). Jerry was a longtime active member of Spartan Junior "B" Lacrosse and the Junior "A" Athletics Lacrosse. He worked for General Motors where he retired in 1996, and continued working with the City of St. Catharines as a park attendant at "the Woods". In accordance with his wishes, cremation has taken place and there will be no funeral service. Jerry's family will receive visitors at the GEORGE DARTE FUNERAL CHAPEL, 585 Carlton Street, St. Catharines on Sunday, November 4th from 2-4pm and 7-9pm. If desired, memorial donations to Hospice Niagara or the Spartan Junior "B" Lacrosse would be appreciated by the family.
