Obituary of Henry Michael Thompson

THOMPSON, Henry Michael "Hank" Passed away peacefully surrounded by his loving family on Sunday, September 5, 2010, in his home at the age of 88. Hank has been reunited with his beloved wife Betty (2009). Hank was dearly loved by his children Michael (Jan), Lisa, Megan (Bob), Shiona (Tedd), Heidi (Doug), also by his grandchildren Lauren, Aaron, Kristin and Andrea. Hank is survived by his nephew Fr. Bill Thompson, and his many friends. Hank was a veteran who served with the Canadian Navy during WWII. The family would like to extend their heartfelt thanks to Hank's visiting team of nurses whose gentle care and support helped make Hank's last days as comfortable and peaceful as possible: Carma, Monica, Toni, Denise, Sandy, Vivienne, Delores, Teresa, Barbara and Barbara; Nicole from the Palliative Care floor at SCGH; as well as to Mike, Hank's wonderful PSW from the Red Cross (It is truly God's work that each of you do). Thank you also to Andrea LaCasse from CCAC and Dr. Arvente, consulting palliative physician. Our special gratitude goes to Lynne, our angel from St. Elizabeth's, who guided the palliative team and our family through this time with calm skill, exceptional dedication, and great compassion. Hank's family will receive family and friends at the George Darte Funeral Chapel, 585 Carlton St., on Thursday, September 9, 2010 from 2-4 p.m. and 7-9 p.m. Vigil prayers will be held at 7:30 p.m. Funeral Liturgy will take place at Star of the Sea Church, 34 Elgin St., on Friday, September 10, 2010 at 11a.m. Cremation to follow service. If desired, expressions of sympathy may be made to the Salvation Army. "God bless you and keep you safe until we see you again Dad."
