Obituary of Shirley Kalagian
Kalagian, Shirley - Passed peacefully on July 18, 2008 at Hospice Niagara after a courageous battle with ALS in her 82nd year. Beloved wife of Mitchell for 56 years. Loving and cherished mother of Janice Luey (David Wells) of Cambridge, Carol, and Nancy Nunn (Ted) both of St. Catharines. Devoted Nanny of Justin, Todd (Christina), Eden, Olivia, Faith and great-grandmother of Carter and Scarlett. Survived by her brother Donald Gray (Ruth), many family members and close friends. Until recently, Shirley was still active in her family business and church. She was the strength and inspiration to all who knew her.
Shirley is resting at the George Darte Funeral Chapel, 585 Carlton Street until Tuesday at 9:30am. Visiting hours are Monday between 2-4 & 7-9pm. A celebration of Shirley's life will be held on Tuesday at 10am in the Silver Spire United Church, 366 St. Paul Street. Graveside committal will take place at Niagara Lakeshore Cemetery following the service. As an expression of sympathy, memorial donations may be made to either Hospice Niagara or the ALS Research Foundation.
