Obituary of Gunther Emil Schlange

SCHLANGE, Gunther After a tough battle with heart disease, Gunther Schlange passed away on July 29th at the St. Catharines General Hospital-NHS at the age of 76. Loving husband of 54 years to Irma and caring father to Brigitte (Peter) Chess and Harry (Kathy). Much loved Opa to Belinda (Willy) and Sheri, Eric and Sonja and Great Opa to Emma and Nathalie. He enjoyed his family, especially his grandchildren and great grandchildren. He will also be missed by his family in Germany. Gunther was an avid soccer player for many years with Club Heidleberg and enjoyed winters in Naples, Florida-fishing from the pier. He enjoyed life to the fullest and always saw things on the bright side, even with his many health problems over the last few years. He always had a smile on his face. A special thanks to Dr. Schultz for his support. Gunther's family will receive visitors at the GEORGE DARTE FUNERAL CHAPEL, 585 Carlton Street on Friday, August 1st from 2-4pm and 7-9pm. A funeral service to celebrate his life will be held in the funeral home chapel on Saturday, August 2nd at 11am. Cremation will follow the service with a private family inurnment at a later date. If desired, memorial donations to the St. Catharines General Hospital Foundation-New Hospital Complex would be appreciated by the family.
