Obituary of Jack Douglas Irwin

Irwin, Jack Douglas - It is with great sorrow that the family of Jack Irwin announce his very sudden and heartbreaking passing at the St. Catharines General Hospital on Thursday March 10, 2011 in his 74th year. Jack was a man devoted to his wife and family and was depended upon as our rock. Dearly beloved and devoted husband of Valerie for 53 years. Much loved and cherished Dad of Kim Hopcraft (Danny) and Kyle (Halley) and dearest Papa to Devon, Dayle and Darion. Jack is survived by his brother William (Dorothy) and their family. Predeceased by his parents Clarence and Eleanor. Jack is loved by and will be greatly missed by his extended family Darlene, his "adopted" son Brian, many friends and relatives who will be shocked and saddened by this loss. Kim, Danny and family share the family home with Jack and Val - and Danny will especially miss the enjoyable and pleasant conversations with his "Dad," joking and doing so many things around the house together. Times that Jack enjoyed so very much. Jack was a mechanic for 42 years and before he retired from Canadian Tire, he was Service Manager there. Jack was respected and trusted by customers and staff in the store and the Service Department. Jack was very happy and especially proud of his beloved son Kyle who followed in his dad's footsteps as a licenced mechanic. Kim has always been her dad's much loved little girl and through the years with her devotion and love always shown, continued in his deep love and admiration for her. Family will receive friends at the George Darte Funeral Home, 585 Carlton Street. Visiting will take place on Tuesday from 10 -12pm. A Service of Remembrance will be held at the funeral home on Tuesday at 12pm. Cremation has taken place. Inurnment will take place at Pleasantview Memorial Gardens at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations in Jack's memory would be appreciated to the Watchtower Bible and Tract Society of Canada, Box 4100, Halton Hills, Georgetown, ONT. John 5:28,29 "Do not marvel at this, because the hour is coming in which all those in the memorial tombs will hear his voice (the voice of Jesus) and come out."
