Obituary of William Gurskyj

GURSKYJ, William On November 9, 2006, in his 86th year, passed away peacefully at home with his family at his side. Beloved husband of Anastasia for 61 years, father of John Gurskyj (Carol), Terry and Eileen Gurskyj, Mary and Zenon Chytra. Lovingly remembered by his grandchildren Lesia and Halia Chytra, Terry William and Kristen Gurskyj. Survived by his brother Ilya and sister Anastasia in Ukraine. William was a long time loyal employee of W.S. Tyler Co. After retirement he volunteered countless hours at Sts. Cyril & Methodius Ukrainian Catholic Church where he was the Sacristan. For his work there, he received a Volunteer Appreciation Award from the City of St. Catharines. He was also a member of the Ukrainian Black Sea Hall, the League of Ukrainian Canadians and Yednist Senior Citizens Group. William's family will receive visitors at the GEORGE DARTE FUNERAL CHAPEL, 585 Carlton Street, St. Catharines on Sunday, November 12th, 2006 from 2-4pm and 6-9pm. Panachyda will be on Sunday evening at 6:30pm. Funeral Divine Liturgy will be celebrated at Sts. Cyril and Methodius Ukrainian Catholic Church, 14 Rolls Ave. (Niagara St. and Vine St.) on Monday, November 13th ,2006 at 10am. Burial to follow at Victoria Lawn Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Sts. Cyril & Methodius Church Building Fund or the Canadian Cancer Society.
