God saw Art getting tired,
When a cure was not to be.
So He wrapped his arms around him,
and whispered, "Come to me".
You didn't deserve what you went through,
So He gave you rest.
God's garden must be beautiful,
He only takes the best
And when we saw Art sleeping,
So peaceful and free from pain
We could not wish him back
To suffer that again.
Art has a special place in all of our
hearts.Art never complained and was always happy with that big grin on his face when we saw.We will miss him.
Thank you for taking the time to bring us the plant in your time of grief. We were sorry we did not thank you personally. Art's picture is hanging in our transfusion room so we will never forget him. Our thoughts and prayer are with all of Art's family.

Hi Papa, Its me, Pearson James Arthur Almas. My dad says that you are in heaven now. We found your last grocery list in your pocket and the first item to purchase was my box of Freezies. My mom says that you made some snow for us last night so I could make my own Freezie. I miss you Papa. We all do. My dad says that he never met a man as good-hearted as you. He says that you never said anything bad about anyone ever. He says that you always gave to others and never really seemed to take anything from anyone until you needed blood. He thinks that's a very good thing and hopes that I will be just like you one day so that everyone is happy to see me and never want to say goodbye.Abby says that you waited for her every day after school until you were too tired and needed a rest. She says you were a great papa and we should try to remember everthing you did for Grandma, Mom and Dad,Abby,Kirk, Wendy, Bobby, Macy, Tilly, Lila and all your animals friends. My dad says that gardeners don't often feed the rabbits that eat their special vegetables but you did and that makes you special too. My mom says you had the strength of 1O men because you fought your sickness even before I was born. Both mom and dad agree that your chicken soup makes us better. The next time I have a dirty nose and my throat hurts I will have some of "Papa's Soup" My dad says that you believed in Heaven and that I can show you my artwork, sing a song and dance with you again. That will be swell Papa. You made the world a better place for me Papa. One day I hope I can do the same thing for someone else. I love you Papa. We all do. Papa, no one can replace you. When I grow up I will be good, eat well, stay strong and give blood so that other little boys and girls can spend lots of time with their grandpa's too. Bye-Bye Papa. I will say a prayer for you tonight. Dad says I can talk to you anytime I want.

My deepest, heartfelt condolences to Art's children and family members. I first met Art in 1975 when I started my job as receptionist when Ontario Paper moved their Corporate office from the paper mill to Corbloc. I was 25 years old. I'm going back to the "old" days when Art drove the big limo. He would stand by my desk and tell me stories of "back home", he'd talk fondly about his family, his little garden and the different recipes he would concoct from his tomatoes, peppers and whatever he would throw in. Sharing recipes or hearing what meal he made up the night before became a daily event. On his many drives to the airport we were always in touch by his car 'phone. I'll never forget the time he got caught in the blizzard of '77 I believe. He was stuck on the QEW for something like 16 hours. He kept in touch by 'phone as we were all worried about him. As was Art, he wasn't concerned, he had coffee with him, he assured me he had lots of gas and would be fine. We were so relieved when he made it safely home through the storm. And that laugh of his, I can still hear it as plan as day, that laugh that came from deep down inside him. It was infectious. When those elevator doors would open and Art would step off I knew I was in for a treat because he'd has some story to tell me. I left Ontario Paper shortly after it was bought out by Donohue in 1997. I never saw Art after that. I often thought of him and wondered how he was doing. I had no ideal he was ill. I wish I could have seen him one more time just to give him a big hug and tell him how special he was. I'm so glad I had the pleasure of knowing him all those years. He's free now, his work is done. You can bet there's a lot of laughter and joking going on in Heaven! God Bless and be at peace. Fondly remembered by JoAnne.

Dee, Jamie, Abby & Pearson:
We were so sorry to hear about your "Dad (Papa)". It is so hard to say good bye to someone that is so close to you. We hope though that it will help to know that he is not suffering from his illness any longer. Even though he is no longer physically here with you, his presence will remain in your hearts and minds forever. Hold tight to all of those wonderful memories you have made together as a family. They will get you through the worst of days.
Christy, Joe, Taylor & Thomas
