Obituary of Alice MacKenzie
MacKenzie Alice Peacefully on Sunday February 25, 2007 at the Hotel Dieu - Shaver Hospital in her 79th year, after a courageous battle with cancer. Beloved wife of David MacKenzie. Loving mother of Stanford (Cathy) Kostecki, Carey, Bruce (Cheryl), and step sons David, William, Robert and Tim. Cherished grandmother of 7 grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren. Survived by brothers Lawrence Burtnik, Mel (Ann) Burtnik, sisters Esther Colin and Sonia (Bruno) Feor. Alice will be lovingly remembered by many nieces, nephews, family and friends. She is predeceased by parents Bill and Pearl Burtnik, brothers Tony and Allen.
Alice was born in Ethelbert, Manitoba. She worked for many years at Niagara Structural Steel and ITT Aimco. She spent many hours oil painting, crocheting, knitting, quilting, sewing and volunteering with Meals on Wheels.
Alice is resting at the GEORGE DARTE FUNERAL CHAPEL, 585 Carlton St. until Wednesday at 9:30am. Funeral Liturgy will be celebrated in St. Thomas Aquinas Church at 10am. Rite of committal in Victoria Lawn Cemetery. Visiting hours are Tuesday 2-4 and 7-9. Memorial remembrances to the Canadian Cancer Society would be appreciated by the family.
