Gittings, Constable Robert W.
Surrounded by his family after a lengthy but courageous fight with leukemia on Monday March 12, 2007 at the McMaster Medical Centre in his 45th year. Beloved husband of Sue and loving father of David and Vanessa, loving son of Dave and Judy, beloved brother of John and Jeannette, Nancy and Joe Speck, and Kathy Learn, son-in law to Dorothy Oswald, brother-in-law to Michelle Oswald, loving Uncle to Ben, Bill, Christina, Sarah, Erin, Troy, Cole and Ryan as well as Great Uncle to Shayne. Rob was a much-respected 25 year veteran with the Niagara Regional Police and will be greatly missed by all his family and many friends. Special thanks to the McMaster Medical Centre and especially to Dr. Leber, Dr. Walker and the very special nursing staff of the 3Z Ward.
Rob's family will receive friends at the GEORGE DARTE FUNERAL CHAPEL 585 Carlton St. on Wednesday 7 - 9 p.m. and Thursday 2 - 4 p.m. and 7-9 p.m. A full Police Funeral Service with honours will be held at the Mountainview United Church 150 Glendale Ave. on Friday March 16, 2007 at 11 a.m. Cremation to follow. Donations to the Leukemia & Hematology Units (in care of Drs. Leber & Walker) would be appreciated.
