Obituary of Filomena Giacomino

Giacomino, Filomena - Peacefully surrounded by her loving family, at Versa Care Centre on Thursday, April 12, 2007 in her 87th year. Beloved wife of 58 years to the late Matteo Giacomino (August 5, 2006). Loving mother of Antoinette (Tony) Bozza and Rocco (Anna) Giacomino both of St. Catharines. Nonna will be lovingly remembered by her grandchildren Joseph, David, Stephanie, Brittany, Amanda and Victoria. Devoted sister of Domenico Milano, Teresa Basile, Michele (Maria) Milano and Antonio Milano of Italy. Devoted sister-in-law of Augustino (Angela) Giacomino of New York and Enrico (the late Maria) Giacomino of Italy. Also survived by many nieces, nephews and family members in Italy. Predeceased by her brother-in-law Antonio Basile, sister-in-law Francesca Milano and sister-in-law Maria Giacomino. Our sincerest thanks are extended to our mother's brother, Domenico. His unwavering love, devotion and care enriched our mother's life and gave her strength throughout all her difficult times. As well, we extend our gratitude to the staff of Versa Care (North 2) for their exceptional care and support over the past four years. Filomena's family will receive friends at the GEORGE DARTE FUNERAL HOME 585 Carlton Street unitl Monday at 9am. Funeral Liturgy will be celebrated at St. Alfred's Catholic Church, 272 Vine Street, on Monday at 9:30am. Visiting hours are Sunday 1-3 and 6-9 p.m. Vigil prayers will be recited on Sunday at 3 pm in the funeral home. Entombment to follow at Victoria Lawn Cemetery. As an expression of sympathy, memorial donations may be directed to Down Syndrome Caring Parents (Niagara Chapter) or the Ontario Heart & Stroke Foundation in Filomena's honour.
