Obituary of William (Wasyl) Derkacz

Derkacz, William (Wasyl) - On Wednesday May 16, 2007 at the St. Catharines General Hospital in his 85th year with his loving family present. Loving husband to Anna for over 53 years. Devoted father to Jerry (Kathy), Eugene and daughter Irene. Cherished Dido to Jennifer Voordouw (David), Sean Fairey (Jenn), Victoria Sanderson (Jade) and Lesia Wellard. Also survived by his great-grandchildren Emily and Davin Voordouw, Abigail and Hayley Sanderson. William was a compassionate family man, proud of his Ukrainian heritage and an employee of General Motors for 37 years. Mr. Derkacz is resting at the George Darte Funeral Home, 585 Carlton Street until Saturday at 9:30am. Divine Liturgy will be celebrated at 10am in Saints. Cyril and Methodius Church, 14 Rolls Ave. Visiting hours are Thursday 2-4 and 7-9pm and Friday 2-4 and 7-9pm. Panachyda will be held in the funeral home on Thursday at 8pm. Rite of Committal will take place at Victoria Lawn Cemetery. As an expression of sympathy, memorial remembrances may be made to the Saints Cyril and Methodius Church Building Fund or Children of Chornobyl in William's honour.
