Walter Gula

Obituary of Walter Edward Gula

GULA, Walter- It is with great sorrow that we announce the unexpected passing of a man loved by all. A man that gave of himself freely for the benefit of others. On Sunday, May 27th, Walt left us for a better place. He was born on August 11th, 1937 in St. Catharines. He leaves behind his loving wife Helen and three children Paul, Pam and Rob. Prayers and hope for a greater understanding of the tragic event go out to his grandson Robbie, who was his best friend and kept him young. His Papa loved him dearly. Special family members are : Heidi Gula, Brian Blanchfield, Ted and Diane Gula, Margaret and Marie Gula, Jim and Jackie Douglas, Edna and Jack Rush, Velma Blue, Larry and Rita Mc Mann, Bob and Barb Bergeron, Dan and Kirby Douglas, Harold and Gwen Douglas and Donna Douglas. Predeceased by Henry and Stan Gula. To all the nieces and nephews who loved him and will miss him dearly, our family says thank you for the love you have given him over the years. Walt worked as a Millwright at General Motors for 43 years and it provided him the freedom to do the things he loved. There was no job too great and no request denied to family, friends and neighbours. He lived his life as we all should, thinking of others first. He was a lover of anything outdoors, whether it was golfing, hunting, fishing or just building something outside. He will be missed yearly by all the members of the Elm Grove Hunt Club. Mr. Gula is resting at the GEORGE DARTE FUNERAL CHAPEL, 585 Carlton Street, St. Catharines until Friday, June 1st at 9:30am. Funeral Liturgy will be celebrated at the Cathedral of St. Catherine of Alexandria, 67 Church Street, St. Catharines on Friday at 10am. Visiting hours are Thursday, May 31st from 1-4pm and 7-9pm. Vigil prayers for Walter on Thursday evening at 7:30pm. If desired, memorial donations to the Boys and Girls Clubs of Ontario would be appreciated by the family. Family was always the most important thing to him. He touched each of our lives in a special way. We all have a unique memory that we will hold close to our hearts and make us smile when we think of him. You were the greatest husband, father and friend a person could ever have.
