REV. MICHAEL HALCHUK Suddenly on May 31st, 2007 in St Catharines, Rev. Michael went to be with the Lord, at 58 years of age. Most cherished and loved son of Jaroslaw, the late Olia Halchuk and step son of Sophia. Loving brother of the late Walter Halchuk. Survived by his aunt Teresa and cousins Steve and Cathy Czerkes. Special friend of Linda Lamarche. Godson of Valetina Lytwynec. Michael touched the hearts of many and will be missed by all including dear friend Larysa. Micheal was born in Belgium in 1948. With his family he moved to Sudbury in 1951 where he attended school and Air Cadets. Graduating from High School and Ukrainian School he then moved to Toronto to attend Ryerson University. There he belonged to the Ukrainian Youth Organization and he played the bandura. After graduating from Ryerson he studied theology at Trinity College to be ordained as an Anglican Minister, during which time he went to the orphanage for Children of Chernobyl in Ukraine to serve. He was curator at St. Lukes Anglican Church in Burlington and later moved to Port Colborne as Pastor of St Brendan the Navigator Anglican Church. Rev. Michael then, through the church of England continued his ministry in Zagreb, Croatia for two years returning to Canada in 2006. Rev Michael is resting at the GEORGE DARTE FUNERAL CHAPEL, 585 Carlton St. where the family will receive friends on Sunday from 2-4 and 7-9pm. A funeral service to celebrate Michael's life will be held in St. Luke's Anglican Church, Burlington on Monday evening at 7pm, with visitation one hour prior to service. Private family burial at a later date. Memorial remembrances to the Heart and Stoke Foundation Canada would be appreciated by the family. "We walk by faith, not by sight: We are confident, I say, and willing rather to be absent from the body, and to be present with the Lord."
