Obituary of Iris Lucille Reid
REID, Iris Lucille (nee Shearer) -- passed away peacefully in her 82nd year, surrounded by her family on Monday, June 11, 2007 at the St. Catharines General Hospital. Iris is survived by Clifford (Kip), her husband of 57 years, son Robert (Margaret) and daughter Nancy (Bob Warner). Iris is grandmother of Jason (Abby), Trevor (Kasey), and Jeannette Warner, and of Emily (Dave Washburn), Thomas, Anthony, and William Reid. She was predeceased by her brother Donald (Barbara) Shearer and is survived by her sister Marina (Harvey) Hainer. Iris was an LAW in the RCAF(WD) from 1943 to 1945, a member of Royal Canadian Legion Br. 124 and a life-long member of St. George's Anglican Church. In her day, Iris enjoyed hunting and fishing and was known for her love of horses and dogs. She was the breeder of some of North America's top English Setters.
Cremation has taken place. Friends and family are welcome at Rob & Margie's home in St. Catharines on Wednesday and Thursday evenings from 7:00 to 9:00 pm (call 905-684-7798 for directions). A memorial service will be held at St. George's Anglican Church, 83 Church St., St. Catharines on Friday, June 15 at 2:00 pm. Arrangements have been entrusted to George Darte Funeral Chapel.
