Obituary of Fiorindo Giancaterino
GIANCATERINO, Fiorindo
Peacefully and while surrounded by his loving family on Tuesday, February 22nd at the St. Catharines General Hospital-NHS at the age of 81.
Cherished husband for 54 years of Gilda and loving Papa of Gabriella and Fernando Ferrelli, Romano and Kimberley Giancaterino, and Rosanna and Sylvain Groulx. Much loved Nonno of Davide, Daniel, Chloe, Talya, Nicolas, Kyra and Juliana. Survived by sisters Cesira (the late Emilio) D'Intino and Amerizia (the late Vito) Squartecchia, brothers Gabriele (Pia) and Corrado (Iole) Giancaterino, brothers in law Elio (Donatina), Bruno (Luisa), and Benito (the late Eva) D'Intino, and sisters in law Maria (the late Biagio), Lidia (the late Antonio) , Clara (Remo) and Iole (the late Franco) D'Intino. Also survived by many nieces, nephews and cousins.
Predeceased by his parents Paolo and Orsola Giancaterino, in-laws Carmine and Rosina D'Intino, beloved grandson Roberto Ferrelli, sisters Maria Giancaterino and Antonietta (Ottavio) D'Intino, and brothers Giuseppe and Riziero Giancaterino.
He was an active member of Club Roma, an avid hunter and a member and chef of the Niagara Hunting and Fishing Club. He enjoyed his garden, wine making, cooking and especially sharing time with his family and friends. He will be sadly missed by all who had the privilege of knowing him.
Mr. Giancaterino's family will receive visitors at the GEORGE DARTE FUNERAL CHAPEL, 585 Carlton Street, St. Catharines on Thursday, February 24th from 3-5pm and 7-9pm. The Funeral Mass will be celebrated at St. Alfred's Church, 272 Vine Street on Friday, February 25th at 9:30 am. Entombment to follow at Pleasantview Memorial Gardens, Fonthill. Vigil prayers will be recited in the funeral home on Thursday at 3:15 pm.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations to the SCGH Oncology Unit or the Canadian Cancer Society would be appreciated by the family.
