Obituary of Alex Robert Nicol
Nicol, AlexAt the Niagara Arms Retirement Home on Saturday September 15, 2007 in his 94th year. Beloved husband of the late May Nicol and loving father of Sandra Shano and Margie (Rick) Spence. He will be lovingly remembered by his grandchildren David Shano, Glen (Lori) Shano, Jeff (Kimmie) Shano, Cori (Harry) Strickland, Angie Shano, Kim, Lori and Greg Nicol, Brad (Holly) Johnstone, Adam (Ruth) Johnstone, Ryan (Rebecca) Johnstone and his 23 great grandchildren. Dear brother of Beth, Trevora and Richard. Brother-in-law of Mabel Kilby. He was predeceased by his son Alex Jr., brothers Rennard, Bobbie, Cyrl, sister Helen and his best friends brothers-in-law George Gill and John Kilby. Alex served overseas in the 2nd WW for six years as a Sargent Major. He worked as a Industrial boiler salesman for 40 years retiring in 1985 and then moved to St. Catharines to be with his family. He was a member of Masonic Lodge # Legion Br. Alex's family will receive friends at the GEORGE DARTE FUNERAL CHAPEL 585 Carlton Street on Monday from 7-9 pm. A celebration of Alex's life will be held in the chapel Tuesday September 18, 2007 at 12:30 pm. Cremation to follow. In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to the St. Catharines General Hospital Foundation.
