Obituary of Emilian Protskiw

Protskiw, Emilian - Passed away peacefully while surrounded by his loving family, on November 3, 2005 at the Henley House in his 94th year. Beloved husband of the late Stephania (2002). Loving father of Alexandra Sawchuk, Natalie Babicky and Audrey Strutynski. Dear Dido of Petrucia, Andriy, Wolodymyr (Vlad), and Stefan. Predeceased by his brothers John (1961), Maxim (1997) and nephew Roman (2001). Emilian was the last founding member of Sts. Cyril and Methodius Ukrainian Catholic Church. Born in Western Ukraine, Emilian came to Canada in 1929 to join his family in Manitoba. Emilian's grandparents immigrated to Canada in 1901. In 1942 he settled on a farm in Niagara-on-the-Lake where he farmed for over 50 years. He was a member of the Ukrainian Canadian Social Services and a proud member of the Ukrainian community. Emilian will be lovingly remembered by nieces, nephews, family and friends. Emilian's family will receive visitors at the GEORGE DARTE FUNERAL CHAPEL, 585 Carlton St. on Saturday, November 5th and Sunday, November 6th between 2-4 and 7-9pm. Panachyda will be held in the funeral home on Sunday at 7:30pm. Divine Liturgy will be celebrated in Sts. Cyril and Methodius Ukrainian Catholic Church at 10:00am on Monday, November 7th with Rite of committal to follow at Victoria Lawn Cemetery. Memorial remembrances may be given to the Sts. Cyril and Methodius Church Building Fund or the Taras Shevchenko Foundation.
