Ron passed peacefully at St. Catharines General Hospital on Thursday, March 2, 2006 at 59 years of age. He will be missed by his loving and devoted wife Barbara (nee Walker), predeceased by infant son Daniel in 1974, dearest friend of Frank and Linda Matheson, his loving mother Alma Thompson and predeceased by his father Denton Thompson, his sister Sue (Don) Hookings, brother-in-law of Rosemarie (Dave), Nancy (Chuck), Linda, predeceased by brothers-in-law Jerry Walker and Steve Bakos. His nieces, nephews and great nieces and nephews brought great joy and fun into his life. Former employee of Foster Wheeler, he was a member of the Imperial Veteran's Association.
Family will receive friends at the George Darte Funeral Chapel, 585 Carlton St. on Sunday from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. A Celebration of Ron's life will be held in the chapel on Monday at 11 a.m. Cremation will take place and at a later time Ron's ashes will be laid to rest with his son Daniel at a private service. In lieu of flowers, donations to the War Amputees of Canada would be appreciated by the family.
