Obituary of Steve Mykytiuk
Mykytiuk, Steve - At the Hotel Dieu-Shaver Rehab with his loving family and friends by his side on Monday March 13, 2006 after a courageous battle with prostate cancer in his 87th year. Survived by his daughters Angela Smith (Bill) of London, Corine (Karen) of St. Catharines and sister Ann. Also, survived by his grandchildren Wendy, Steve, Tara (Luigi), Corina (Chris) and Alexis (Dieudonne); great grandchildren Frank, Tommy, Harrison, Ryan, Nicholas, Raymond, Tyson, Summer, Terrall and Trevon and faithful companions Scooter the cat and Fritz the Pug. Predeceased by his wife Rose (1997), brothers Billy, John and sister Mary. Steve served with honour during WWII as a member of the 2nd Battalion Canadian Scottish Regiment. Mr. Mykytiuk was employed with the Ontario Paper Company (Thorold Division) for 33 years (from 1951 to 1984) and was a member of the Quarter Century Club. Many thanks to the staff at the Hotel Dieu - Shaver Rehab, Dr. Brook, Dr. Sandra Hartman, Dr. William Howe and Ange, Dr. I. Brown, Dr. Y. Chan, Dr. K. Conway and Debbie as well as Nancy and Sam. A special thanks to Sandra and Stuart for your friendship and support during dad's final hours and to Millicent for the many years of laughter and joy you shared with dad.
At Steve's request, cremation has taken place. A celebration of life for Steve will be held at the George Darte Funeral Home, 585 Carlton St. on Saturday March 18, 2006 at 11am. Memorial donations for Steve may be made to the Lupus Foundation of Ontario.
