Obituary of John (Jan) Stret

Stret, John (Jan) Peacefully at St. Catharines General Hospital on Tuesday, April 12 2005 in his 89th year. Husband of the late Maria (2000), loving father of Jenny Witko and Jack Colquhoun, the late Nick (2002) and his wife Jenny Stret, Chester and his wife Lottie Stret and predeceased by his daughter Milcia, loving dziadzio of 10 grandchildren and 5 great grandchildren, predeceased by his brother Julian and his sisters Maria and Katharine in Poland; also survived by sisters-in-laws Julia Salik and Maria Tkaczyk in Poland and many nieces, nephews and cousins in Canada and Poland. John was a member of Our Lady of Perpetual Help Church for over 40 years. He was employed with Foster Wheeler until his retirement. Mr. Stret is resting at the George Darte Funeral Home, 585 Carlton St. until Saturday at 9:30 a.m. Funeral Liturgy will be celebrated in Our Lady of Perpetual Help Church at 10 a.m. with Rite of Committal in Victoria Lawn Cemetery. Visiting Hours Thursday 7-9 p.m. and Friday 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Vigil Prayers will be celebrated in the funeral home on Friday at 7:45 p.m. The family would like to thank the nursing staff of 3C West of the St. Catharines General Hospital for your care and assistance. A heartfelt thank you to Dr. A. Chan and also Dr. I. Petrowski for many years of special care. A very special thank you to Father A. Goodwin for your spiritual guidance and Fr. R. Kosian for your prayers. We would like to thank family, friends and neighbours for your support. Memorial Remembrances can be made to a charity of your choice if so desired.
