Dear Mabel and Michael
I was sincerely saddened in learning of Flemming's passing, and I wish to express my heartfelt condolences to the both of you.
Although I was remis in not maintaining contact over the years, I clearly recall our friendship that came about when attending Prince Phillp School, a friendship that continued on for many years.
Flemming, more than most people, had to endure a lot of suffering throughout his life, but in spite of that remained free of bitterness.
Always in style, well-mannered, gifted with a good sense of humour, and simply a decent soul, it is folk such as Flemming who enriched my life.
I'm sorry that I cannot convey my thoughts to you in person, as I'm not residing in the Niagara region at this time, in fact not even in Canada.
May you take comfort knowing that Flemming was held in high regard by me, as well as all members of the Brown family.
Most sincerely,
Arnold

I extend my sympathy to Flemming's family at this sad time. May the good news of Christmas and Easter strengthen your faith.
I'm sure Flemming never mentioned me to you, so I'm a stranger to all who grieve. He was no stranger to me however, even though we may not have seen each other in 40 to 45 years. Flemming and I were catechized and confirmed together in l958 , at Christ Lutheran Church, Russell Avenue, by Pastor Theodore Schulze. I remember him as affable and coping well with his diability both during confirmation class and later in the youth group then called the Walther League. Then our paths parted until I saw of his passing on line.
While I can't imagine your grief's depth I want you to know I sad too. I always remember liking him, we got along well as kids. So if there is a confirmation class reunion at Christ Church any time soon, we'll just have to say to each other we have to wait for the new heaven and earth to arrive at our Lord's second coming in order to have everyone in the class picture.
To let you know who I am let me summarize by saying that since 1999 I've been pastor at Trinity Lutheran Church, Syracuse, New York, having served previously in Scarbourgh and Waterloo, Ontario and in Saskatchewan.
Whatever may have contributed to Flemming's death, even including hemophilia, will be no more, for Christ is risen from the dead and has given us the promise that death and disease will not have the last say. May this faith which Flemming and I affirmed give you peace and healing.
Thanks for this time together.

Dear Mabel and Michael
We were very saddened to read in the paper that Flemming has passed away. Sorry we were not able to attend the visitation this afternoon as we were out of town this morning and did not get back until 4 p.m.
I have let Arnold know, over in China, and he will be in touch with you, if not already.
We always remember Flemming as a friendly, kind and jovial person, going back to when Arnold and he were about 12 years old.
My mother, also, will be saddened to hear of his passing.
Please accept our sincere sympathy to you both at this difficult time in the loss of one so dear to you - a husband and a father.
