Obituary of Matt Lukey
LUKEY, Matt John February 23, 1927- January 31, 2005 Surrounded by his family at the Hotel Dieu Hospital (St. Catharines), Matt went peacefully home to the Lord. Beloved husband of Zenia for 48 years, cherished father of Rod, Cordell (Margaret) and Chris (Jill) and "Ghedo" to Mathew, Colton and Dawson. Matt is also survived by brother Nick (Doris) of Sudbury, sister Mary of Winnipeg and sister May of Grandview, Manitoba. Matt owned and operated Peninsula Mobile Catering for 20 years. He was a very active founding member of St John Ukrainian Catholic Church and an avid supporter and fan of Junior "B" and minor hockey in St Catharines, Pelham and the surrounding Niagara region. Matt will be greatly missed by the many friends he made during his journey through life. His devotion to his faith was unwavering; often being quietly revealed by his compassion, kindness and generosity to all. He was a gentleman, as well as a gentle man. Matt was a treasure to his family and will be deeply missed by all....A job well done Matt, Thank You!!!
Friends will be received at the GEORGE DARTE FUNERAL CHAPEL, 585 Carlton Street, St. Catharines on Thursday, February 3rd from 2-4pm and 7-9pm with Panachyda at 7pm. A Funeral Service will be held at St. John Ukrainian Catholic Church , 91 Lakeshore Road, St. Catharines, Ontario at 10 am on Friday, February 4th. If desired, memorial donations may be made to the St. John Ukrainian Catholic Church Building Fund. A special thank you to the nursing staff and doctors at the Hamilton General and Hotel Dieu hospitals for all their care and compassion.
