SMAL, Vladymir (Walter)
After a short illness on Friday, April 23rd at St. Joseph's Health Centre, Toronto in his 88th year.
Survived by his wife Emilia, daughter Irene, son Steve (Halina) and grandsons Conrad and Martin. Also survived by his sister Eugenia and her extended family in Ukraine. Predeceased by his brother Josef and sisters Maria and Kateryna.
He was born in Western Ukraine and came to Canada in 1949 where he worked at Ontario Paper in Thorold South until his retirement in 1983.
Walter's family will receive visitors at the GEORGE DARTE FUNERAL CHAPEL, 585 Carlton Street, St. Catharines on Monday, April 26th from 2-4pm and 7-9pm. Funeral service will be celebrated on Tuesday, April 27th at Sts. Cyril and Methodius Ukrainian Catholic Church, 14 Rolls Avenue, St. Catharines at 10:30am. Rite of Committal in St. Volodymyr Ukrainian Cemetery, Oakville. Panachyda will be recited in the funeral home on Monday at 7pm.
If desired, memorial donations to the Ukrainian Canadian Social Services-St. Catharines Branch or the Ivan Franko Home would be appreciated by the family.
