Obituary of Juozas (Joe) Vysniauskas
VYSNIAUSKAS, Juozas (Joe) - Passed away at the St. Catharines General Hospital on Sunday, June 13, 2004 at the age of 89, with his family and nurse Bernadette at his side. Beloved husband of Leokadija. Dearest father and artistic mentor of Jurate Cicilija Vysniauskas. Born in Palkiai, Lithuania he is also survived by his niece, Nerute Paliulis of Lithuania, and her children, Valdas and Jurgita. A Lithuanian war veteran and a Canadian and Lithuanian patriot, he will be greatly missed by all.
While employed at General Motors, he found time to found and to become past president and director of the Ontario chapter of the Canadian Lithuanian Veterans' Association - "Ramove", where he worked ceaselessly for the liberation of his birthland. He was also an organist, a pianist and a singer and both organized and participated in many cultural events.
Family, friends and all associates will be received at the George Darte Funeral Home at 585 Carlton St. in St. Catharines. Visitation hours are Thursday, 2-4 and 7-9.Vigil prayers will take place at 3pm at the funeral home on Thursday. The funeral mass will be celebrated at 11 a.m. on Friday at Mary Queen of Angels Church, 75 Rolls Ave. in St. Catharines. Burial will take place after mass at the St. John's Lithuanian Cemetery, 2185 Stavebank Rd., Mississauga.
