Obituary of Stanley Douglas Dickson
DICKSON, Stanley Douglas
A wonderful, loving, father and grandfather died early Saturday morning after a brief illness. Stan Dickson was born in Belfast, Ireland in 1907, married Sarah Elizabeth (Betty) Magill in 1931 and had 3 daughters - Dorothy, Pat and Jaki who loved him deeply. They emigrated to Canada where the family expanded to include Paul, John, David and Wayne, six devoted grandchildren: Elizabeth and husband Alan, John and wife Marcy, Sarah, Katherine, Tara, Brian; and one great-granddaughter, Taylor. With his wife Betty he formed the centre of his family. He led by selfless example, determined spirit and enduring love. He was an engineer, an inventor and an entrepreneur, but his greatest legacy is the love he wove with his family and friends. Stan was predeceased by Betty, his wife of over 70 years, in August 2002. We mourn a truly great man who lived an honourable life.
A Memorial Service to celebrate Mr. Dickson's life will be held in the George Darte Funeral Chapel, 585 Carlton St., St. Catharines on Monday at 2:00pm. If so desired, donations to a children's charity of choice would be appreciated by the family.
