I hear music in the background, the tinkling of the rain.
Night is just ascending and my heart is full of pain.
In the cool breeze, out of reach of the tears from the sky,
I ponder over the years of friendship that have quickly flown by.
I lost a friend today.
Our early morning chats were done miles apart.
We told of our plans for the day, what was in our heart.
We laughed, we cried, we were the best of friends.
We had that special connection, the one that never ends.
