Obituary of Robert Francis O'Neill

O'Neill, Robert Francis - Peacefully at his home, in St. Catharines, on Thursday June 14, 2001 with his loving family at his side, after a short illness. Bob is the beloved husband of Elinor, loved father of Patrick and Colleen of Hamilton, special Papa Bob of Moira and Eilish, sadly missed by his sisters-in-law, cousins, nieces and nephews and was predeceased by his infant son John and his parents Robert Francis and Catherine O'Neill. Bob's life exemplified service in education and his community. As an educator he was a teacher, principal, teacher's college professor at Toronto Teacher's College, superintendant of schools in London and Calgary, the Director of Education for the Lincoln County Catholic School Board, charter member of the Knights of Columbus in Calgary, and a member of the local Knight's of Columbus Council 1394, Phi Delta Kappa, was on the advisory board at Brescia College of the University of Western Ontario, Past Director of the Niagara District Health Council, Chair of the Niagara Advisory Panel for making services work for people, Director of Contact Niagara, Director of the Niagara Centre for Independant Living, Chair of the Mayor's Committee on Accessibility, and was actively involved with the Rotary Club of St. Catharines. Bob is resting at the GEORGE DARTE NORTH CHAPEL, 585 Carlton St. until Monday at 10:30a.m. Funeral Liturgy will be celebrated in St. Denis Church at 11:00a.m. Cremation. Visiting hours Saturday 7-9p.m., Sunday 2-4 and 7-9p.m. Vigil prayers for the deceased will be held in the funeral home on Sunday at 3p.m. Memorial remembrances to the Children's Centre or Covenant House would be appreciated by the family.
