LINDAL, Fredrick Vincent (Fred)
On Saturday, August 4th, 2001 at the Hotel Dieu Hospital after a lengthy and valiant struggle with cancer at the age of 61. Beloved husband of Patricia (Pat). Loving father of Jackie and Jennie (Jim) Stevens. Devoted and cherished Grandfather of Jonathan, Sharlotte and Peter. Brother of Ruth LaMothe and the late Buck LaMothe. Pre-deceased by his parents Joe and Lil and brother Ted Lindal. Son-in-law of Percy and Evelyn Griffin of Edmonton, Alberta. Brother-in-law of Heather Lindal of St. Catharines, Jim and Gail Griffin of Sudbury, Paul and Vivian Griffin of White Rock, B.C., Sharon and Alex Schick of Richmond B.C., Jessie and Des Rolheiser, Mark and Cheryl Griffin, Ross and Toni Griffin, Andy and Racette Griffin all of Edmonton, Alberta. Also will be missed by several nieces and nephews.
Fred was actively involved in his community, serving as an Alderman in Merritton Ward from 1981-1985, and as an NDP candidate in Brock Riding in 1975. Fred coached several teams in the Merritton Athletic Association including hockey & football, and was instrumental in bringing the St. Catharines Saints Hockey club to the city.
Mr. Lindal is resting at the GEORGE DARTE FUNERAL CHAPEL, 585 Carlton St. Funeral Liturgy will be celebrated at St. Thomas Aquinas Church on Wednesday at 10:00am. Cremation to follow. Visitation Tuesday 7-9pm. Vigil Prayers will be held in the funeral home on Tuesday at 7:30pm. If so desired, donations to the Hotel Dieu Palliative Care Unit would be appreciated by the family.
