Obituary of Horst Winter
WINTER, Horst
Peacefully on Thursday October 4, 2001, after a courageous battle with illness at the Henderson Hospital, Horst Winter has gone to be with his Lord and Saviour, in his 67th year. Loving husband of 45 years to Dietlind Winter, precious father of Karen (Kirk) Harrison, Marvin (Terry) Winter and Audrey (Ron) Lopez. Loving Opa of Emily/Ben Harrison, Chase/Reid/Austin Winter and Elijah/Reuben Lopez. Dear brother of Hella Czerlinski and uncle of Annegret Grawe in Germany.
The family will receive friends at the GEORGE DARTE FUNERAL CHAPEL, 585 Carlton St. Visiting hours are Friday 7-9pm. A funeral service will be held in the chapel on Saturday at 10:00am. Internment to follow at Victoria Lawn Cemetery.
Horst worked for 27 years with the District School Board of Niagara. If desired, Memorial donations to the Henderson General Hospital ICU (c/o Hamilton Health Science Foundation, Attn: Henderson ICU Education Fund) would be appreciated by the family.
Special thank you to Drs. Aaron Chan, Benger, Tougas, Visram, Rosenblood, Hilda and Angela, all members of the Henderson General Hospital Intensive Care Unit for their dedicated care.
I'm Free
Don't grieve for me from pain I'm free
I'm following the path God laid you see.
I took His hand when I heard His call
I turned around and left it all
I could not stay another day
To laugh, to love, to work or play
Task left undone must stay that way
I found the peace on a sunny day.
If my parting has left a void
Then fill it with remembered joys.
A family shared, a laugh, a kiss
Oh yes, these things I too will miss.
Be not burdened with times of sorrow
I wish you the sunshine of tomorrow
My life has been full, I savoured much
Good family, good times, a loved one's touch.
Perhaps my time seemed all too brief
Don't lengthen it now with undo grief
Lift up your hearts and peace to Thee.
God wanted me now: From pain I'm free.
A Memorial Tree was planted for Horst
