Obituary of Anne Tickolez
TICKOLEZ, Anne (Sykos)
Died on Monday, April 2nd, 2001, at the St. Joseph's Health Centre, Sudbury. Born April 7th, 1912 in the village of Horodnytsia, Horodenka, western Ukraine. Prededeased by parents Mykhailo Sykos (1960) and Irene (Luciw)(1975). Came to Canada in 1922, settling in Espanola, Ont. Married John Wlasy in 1930 (predeceased in 1946). Mother of Mary Stefura (husband John) of Sudbury, and Anne Kusyj (husband the late George, 1996) of St. Catharines. Predeceased by two infant daughters. Married to William Wowk in 1951 (deceased 1958) and Stephen Tickolez 1966 (deceased 1983). Sadly missed by daughters Mary Stefura and Mary Kusyj, grandchildren Michael Stefura (wife Jan) of Buffalo, N.Y., Valdimira Stefura (husband Dr. Roman Koropeckyj) of Los Angeles, Ca., Marcy Stefura (husband Spencer Ladd) of Boston, Ma., Alexander Kusyj (wife Christina) and George Kusyj of St. Catharines, and five great grandchildren. During her life in St. Catharines, she was an active member and served on the Executive Committees of the Ukrainian Women's Organization, the St. Catharines Ukrainian Credit Union and the Ukrainian Fraternal Society. She was a member of the Sts. Cyril and Methodius Ukrainian Catholic Church in St. Catharines and St. Mary's Ukrainian Catholic Church in Sudbury in more recent years. Anne was a resident of the Ukrainian Seniors' Centre in Sudbury since 1994. During her prolonged illness with Alzhimers, she was cared for initially by Maria Tkach, and for the past six years by live-in caregiver Miroslava Tripaliouk, more recently assisted by Nadia Galiarnik.
Mrs. Tickolez is resting at the George Darte North Chapel, 585 Carlton St. until Thursday at 9:30 a.m. Divine Liturgy will be celebrated in Sts. Cyril and Methodius Ukrainian Catholic Church at 10 a.m. with Rite of Committal in Victoria Lawn Cemetery. Visiting Hours Wednesday 2-4 and 6:30-9 p.m. Panachyda will be celebrated in the funeral home on Wednesday at 7 p.m. In lieu of flowers, donations to the Ukrainian Senior Citizens' Club of Sudbury, or the Sudbury Alzheimer Society would be appreciated by the family.
