Obituary of Sophia Sukmanowski
SUKMANOWSKI, Sophia (Lazaruk)
Peacefully, on Thursday, April 12th, 2001 at the St. Catharines General Hospital at the age of 74. Beloved wife of the late John Lazaruk (1975) and second husband Michael Sukmanowski (2000). Survived by her dear sisters Olga Hewko of Hamilton and Stefania Stefanyshyn of Ukraine. Predeceased by sisters and brother Ksenia, Anna, and Peter of Ukraine. Sophia will be missed by nephews Bob (Olga) Hewko, Eugene Hewko, and Roman (Catherine) Hewko. Great Aunt to Lesia, Mathew, John, Nicholas, Daniel, Kelly, Erin Hewko of Hamilton; also 2 nephews and niece in Ukraine Peter, Roman, & Oksana. First cousin to John & Pat Sukmanowski and daughters Patricia, Catherine, Barbara, and also uncle Fred Sukmanowski. Sophia Sukmanowski will be missed by many relatives, friends, and neighbours. Sophia was an active member of St. John Ukrainian Catholic Church and was a past member of the Ukrainian Women's Organization OLUK.
Mrs. Sukmanowski is resting at the GEORGE DARTE FUNERAL CHAPEL, 585 Carlton until Monday at 9:00am. Divine Liturgy will be celebrated in St. John Ukrainian Catholic Church on Monday at 9:30am. Rite of Committal at Holy Sepulchre Cemetery (Burlington). Visitation Saturday 2-4 & 7-9pm and Sunday 7-9pm. Panachyda will be held in the funeral home on Saturday at 7:30pm & Sunday at 7:30pm. If so desired, donations to St. John Ukrainian Catholic Church would be appreciated by the family.
